An exciting start of RORC season with the battle between MOD70 Phaedo and Concise full on in the Caribbean sea.
After taking part to the RORC Transatlantic Race at the end of 2015 between Lanzarote and Port Louis – Grenada, with the MOD70 Phaedo^3 first multihull over the line, 1 hour 40 minutes and 41 seconds ahead of the MOD70 Team Concise-Ms BARBADOS – her name for this Caribbean Season – both teams settled in their respective Caribbean base to get ready for this winter season.
At the end of January, the battle resumed during the 2016 Mount Gay Round Barbados Race won by the MOD70 Team Concise-Ms BARBADOS by 12 seconds setting at the same time a new absolute record for the race and course of 2hr 37mins 38sec
As a warm up for the next regattas, the MOD70 Phaedo3 took part to the inaugural Around Redonda Race setting a race reference time of 4 hours and 5 minutes as well as to the Antigua 360 Race.
But it’s the RORC Caribbean 600 which saw an epic duel between both the MOD70 Phaedo3 and Concise-Ms Barbados who smashed the previous race record coming into the finish within minutes of each other
To complete this brilliant season, the MOD70 Phaedo3 took part last week to the 2016 St Maarten Heineken Regatta and cruised through the finish line at a speed of 28 knots, completing the course in just 1 hour 19 minutes and 59 seconds, shaving over 10 minutes off the previous record. To top it all the MOD70 Phaedo^3 was also first in the Multihull class
Both boats are now getting ready to get back to England for the MOD70 Team Concise and Annapolis (USA) for the MOD70 Phaedo^3 before the start of the European Season of the RORC circuit
