The MOD70 Orion racing beat a record dating back to 1998 by sailing the 1,000 nautical mile race from San Diego to Puerto Vallarta in 2 days, 8 hours, 33 minutes (56 hours, 33 minutes).
With an average speed of 18 knots, they broke the record previously held by Steve Fossett and his 60ft trimaran, Lakota, by 5 hours and 47 minutes.
